My name is Dr. Lillian Mukuhi Kimani. I am a woman of faith, purpose, and compassion, with a heart for nurturing others and guiding individuals towards inner healing, personal growth, and a deeper relationship with God. My educational and professional background is in Organisational Development (OD) Psychology and Gender. I am also a Certified Christian Life Coach, educator, trainer, speaker, and writer, with over three decades of experience in women’s ministry. I am passionate about helping women build resilience and cultivate emotional, mental, and spiritual wellness. With a particular interest in the intersection of biblical Scripture and emotional health, I seek to create practical resources that empower Christian women to live fulfilled and joyful lives.

My Mission

I am writing a book inspired by Scripture and guided by the Holy Spirit, aimed at helping women reclaim their rightful place in the Kingdom of God, discover their identity in Jesus Christ, and maximise their emotional and spiritual potential. Growing up during the women’s gender equality movement of the 1970s and watching my mother and other pioneering women participate in the second national liberation left me with many questions about my identity as a child of God. I sought to understand the source of gender inequalities that often left women culturally regarded as inferior, disregarded, and treated without respect. These frustrations led me to search the Scriptures alongside secular historical materials. Through this journey, I discovered a biblical picture of women as God’s special vessels, created with noble character, strength, wisdom, and empathy, as reflected in Proverbs 31:10–31. Proverbs 31:26 particularly highlights wisdom and kindness, qualities that also form part of the foundational skills of Emotional Intelligence.

My writing seeks to help women remove myths and misconceptions surrounding their purpose, value, and personal worth. Scripture teaches that women are created in God’s image and share equal value and standing before Him (Genesis 1:27), and that in Christ, our spiritual salvation and identity transcend gender distinctions (Galatians 3:28). I am particularly motivated to help women, especially those in the younger generation, appreciate their emotional and spiritual gifts and abilities so that they can honour God, their Creator, with joy and fulfilment.

My Writing Process

I experienced writer’s block during the initial stages of writing, particularly while crafting the introduction. However, as I continued, the writer’s block gradually faded, and I settled into a productive writing rhythm. I attribute much of this progress to the continuous encouragement and motivation provided by the Onyx Writing Class facilitation team. The Writing Class also guided me in developing a personal writing schedule that fitted around my professional and personal commitments. I allocated two hours each night, from 9:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., five days a week, to my writing. Working within tight deadlines also helped me remain disciplined and complete my draft manuscript on schedule.

My Posture

I appreciated the technical guidance and feedback provided by the Onyx Writing Class facilitators throughout the writing journey. I was particularly impressed by their quick responses to my WhatsApp messages and phone calls. Their accessibility and continued guidance helped me progress through the different stages of developing my manuscript.

Closing Reflection

The Onyx Writing Class anchored my writing journey in biblical principles and standards and helped me understand what it means to become an authentic Christian writer I am truly grateful for the practical tools, spiritual inspiration, professional guidance, and continued encouragement I received throughout the programme. My desire is to use what I have learnt to develop resources that help women understand their God-given identity, recognise their emotional and spiritual potential, and live lives that honour God with joy and fulfilment.
