Moving Beyond Grief – Beryl Bilo

My name is Beryl Bilo. I am an early childhood educator and author passionate about crafting stories that explore empathy, seeking God, and spiritual growth.

Drawing from my deep walk and fellowship with the Life-Giver, alongside 13 years of experience working closely with young children and families, I write Holy Spirit-led narratives designed to stir faith, reveal God’s heart in everyday life, and reflect Christ’s ministry. Through my stories, I desire to inspire healing, nurture deep connections, and bring joy to readers of all ages.

I am also a loving wife and proud mother of two energetic boys.

My Mission

I am writing about moving beyond grief, a message inspired by my personal experience following the loss of my father in 2019.

Walking through that season gave me a deeply personal understanding of grief and became the motivation behind my writing. Through this book, I desire to use my experience to explore the journey beyond loss and encourage others who may be navigating their own seasons of grief.

My Writing Process

I encountered writer’s block a couple of times during the writing journey. When this happened, I turned first to prayer and then reminded myself to take the process one step at a time.

I learnt not to become overwhelmed by the whole manuscript, but simply to keep moving forward, one sentence and one paragraph at a time.

Balancing writing with my other responsibilities was also challenging at times because of the busyness of family and work. Prayer helped me through these seasons. I also reached out to a classmate, and we would meet and work together. Having someone alongside me helped me remain committed to the writing process.

My Onyx Writing Class Experience

My experience with content writing during CLC Kenya’s Onyx Writing Class was encouraging and uplifting.

As a first-time writer, I found the class very beneficial. The experience provided encouragement and support as I developed my manuscript and continued learning about the writing process.

I would definitely recommend the Writing Class to someone who desires to begin or develop their writing journey.

Closing Reflection

To aspiring writers and beginning authors, my encouragement is simple:

“Just start. Take the step and start. God will show up.”

My journey has taught me that I do not have to have everything figured out before beginning. Through prayer, perseverance, support from others, and taking one step at a time, I can continue developing the message God has placed on my heart.

CLC Kenya Celebrates 18 Graduating Writers from the Onyx Writing Mentorship Class

CLC Kenya joyfully celebrated the virtual graduation of 18 writers from the Onyx Writing Mentorship Class, marking another milestone in raising Christian authors across Africa. Facilitated by Jackline Ingasian and hosted by Dr. Muthoni Omukhango, the graduation brought together writers from Kenya and Uganda who have completed manuscripts across various genres, including memoirs, marriage guidance, Christian living, parenting, children’s devotionals, inner healing, financial stewardship, leadership, and discipleship.

During the ceremony, each writer shared their writing journey, the inspiration behind their book, and the lessons learnt through the mentorship process. The event also highlighted CLC Kenya’s wider mission of advancing the gospel through Christian literature, a mission connected to CLC’s global work across 44 countries.

The CLC Kenya’s Writing Class has continued to grow since its beginning in 2020, raising writers who are not only completing manuscripts but also preparing to publish books that will serve families, churches, communities, and nations.

The 2026 graduating writers were encouraged to move forward into the publishing and marketing phase, with the hope of celebrating their published works in 2027 with an in-person graduation set for 28th November 2026 at Garden Estate.

As the session closed in prayer and thanksgiving, the charge was clear: graduation is not the end of the journey, but the beginning of greater stewardship. These writers carry stories, testimonies, teachings, and messages that can impact Africa and beyond.
