My Mission

I am writing a book to encourage widows with the assurance that God is a faithful and caring Husband to the widow.

The inspiration for this book came from a deeply personal experience. I witnessed God’s faithfulness to my mother after she became a widow in her late 30s. Through her journey, I saw how God cared for her and remained faithful to her. That experience became the motivation behind the message I am now putting into writing.

My desire is that widows who read this book will be encouraged by the knowledge that they are not alone and that they can depend on God’s faithfulness and care.

My Writing Process

Like many writers, there were times when I did not feel inspired to write. I learnt, however, that writing is often much more about perspiration, meaning hard work, than inspiration.

I chose not to wait until I felt inspired because I realised that if I did, I might write very little. Writing required me to keep showing up and doing the work even when inspiration was not there.

Balancing writing with my other commitments also required adjustments. I did what needed to be done concerning my various responsibilities, but I intentionally made room for writing, even when that sometimes meant writing late into the night.

My Posture

I am committed to receiving feedback positively and using it to improve my work. I recognise that feedback is an important part of developing as a writer and producing better work.

I have also learnt to approach writing with prayer, discipline, and a willingness to grow. I see myself as a vessel that God can use to communicate His message to others.

My Onyx Writing Class Experience

My experience in CLC Kenya’s Onyx Writing Class was beneficial. I found the material and lessons by Dr Muthoni Omukhango to be very good, practical, and useful to my writing journey.

The class helped reinforce the importance of combining the spiritual aspect of writing with the practical lessons and discipline required to write well. Based on my experience, I would recommend the writing class to others who desire to develop their writing.

Closing Reflection

To aspiring writers and beginning authors, I would say: see yourself as a vessel God can use to communicate His message through you.

Commit yourself to prayer and seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit throughout your writing journey. At the same time, take seriously the practical lessons and discipline required for good writing.

Writing can be very fulfilling, but good writing is not necessarily easy. Pursue excellence in your writing for the glory of God, who is excellent in all He does.
