My name is Stella Kimani. I am an accountant, author, and lifelong lover of books, with an MBA in Finance and CPA qualifications. I am passionate about numbers and personal finance, and I enjoy helping others make informed financial decisions while also sharing knowledge through storytelling. Originally from Kenya and now living in the United States, I am married and a proud mother of three children. I believe that every life has a story worth telling, and I hope my writing will inspire, encourage, and connect with readers.

My Mission

I am writing a book about some of the lessons I learnt from my mother. There were many lessons to choose from, which made it difficult to decide which ones to include. However, with the help of the Holy Spirit, I believe I have captured the lessons needed for this season. My mother has since passed away, and one of my greatest motivations for writing this book is to preserve her memory and the wisdom she imparted to me. I desire to create something that can be passed down to the generations after her, allowing her lessons and legacy to continue speaking into their lives.

My Writing Process

I encountered writer’s block at different points in my writing journey. There were times when I simply did not know what to write. When this happened, I learnt to step away for a short break or do something else. I would pray and then return to the manuscript. This helped me approach the writing again with a refreshed mind and continue developing the message. I also learnt the importance of intentionally making time to write. I set aside specific times for my manuscript. Sometimes I had less time available than I would have liked, but even during those moments, I chose to write what I could.

My Posture

I am yet to receive feedback on my manuscript. However, I welcome feedback because I believe it can help me produce better results. God is a God of excellence, and I therefore view constructive feedback as a tool that can challenge me to reach a higher standard and produce work that reflects excellence.

My Onyx Writing Class Experience

My experience with content writing during CLC Kenya’s Onyx Writing Class was very beneficial. The structured approach made the writing process easier because we received proper guidance and encouragement along the way. The team was also readily available throughout the process to answer questions whenever they arose. The structure, support, and encouragement helped me progress with my manuscript, and I would definitely recommend the Writing Class to others who have a desire to write their books.

Closing Reflection

To aspiring writers and beginning authors, my encouragement is simple:

Stop postponing. Join the class and get your God-ordained book out into the world.

The longer you delay, the longer those whom your book has been called to help may be waiting. If God has placed a message on your heart, take the step, commit to the writing process, and allow Him to use your story for His purposes.
